Cool Down Coming Quick For Saturday

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -

Plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures across Colorado ahead of a cold front that will drastically change our temperatures on Saturday. We also felt some strong winds ahead of that front, and we'll continue to be windy through Saturday.

The cold front works its way through northwestern Colorado this evening, and heads toward the front range in the early morning hours on Saturday. There will be some mountain snow associated with this front, but it won't make it to the Front Range. We'll just get gusty winds and much cooler temperatures. We'll be about 20 to maybe even 30 degrees cooler than Friday for eastern Colorado.

In the mountains, snow is likely late Friday night into early Saturday morning. The snow should end before sunrise on Saturday and accumulation should be limited to just a couple inches on the higher peaks and passes mainly above 10,000 feet.

The cool down doesn't last long, Sunny and warmer weather will return statewide on Sunday with highs in the metro area reaching near 70°.
