Sunny & Warm, Few Storms Possible East

By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - Get ready for a warming and drying trend across Colorado as we roll through the weekend with temperatures running above average as we wrap up summer 2016 over the next few days.

Today is the best chance to see some showers and storms in our state this weekend and that threat will mostly be confined to the far eastern plains this afternoon.

Any storms that fire shouldn't last too long as they quickly move into Kansas but a few could be strong to severe across our eastern counties.

If you've got the itch to do a little fall leaf-peeping we're already seeing some nice color in elevations above 9,000 feet.
