Quick Warm-Up with Sunny Skies to End the Week

DENVER (CBS4) - The storm responsible for our first measurable snow in more than two months will gradually moved out of Colorado, keeping the east inscattered snow showers and light snow into the early evening hours. Skies will clear and temperatures will warm again - especially for the east.

The 0.4" of snow that was measured at DIA is the first measurable snow in Denver since October 9. So from October 10 through December 13 we saw no snow which was long enough to qualify as the fourth longest streak on record with 65 days. We were just four days shy of the record of 69 days set during the winter of 2002-2003.

In the mountains, snow totals ranged from from 3-6 inches at many of the ski areas.

Looking ahead to Friday, it will turn considerably warmer under mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the upper 50s. Then it will begin to turn cooler with increasing clouds on Saturday with a high of 52. Snow showers will develop late Saturday - well after dark - and continue into Sunday when it also turns colder with a high in the upper 30s to end the weekend.

Sunshine and warmer temperatures return to start next week with highs in the low to mid 50s.
