Dangerously Cold Overnight Temperatures

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) - That's a wrap on the snow for most of northern Colorado, but overnight there will still be plenty for southern Colorado. Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings cover all of southern Colorado as heavy snow is still expected in most areas through early tomorrow morning. 3 to 6 inches possible in the lower elevations, while some southern mountains could pick up to another foot by tomorrow morning.

For the rest of us, skies clear overnight from most of the cloud cover. This means our overnight lows will be bitterly cold. Across the front range and plains, overnight lows will be well below zero with wind chills making it feel much colder than that. Wind Chill Warnings are in place for the Lower Yampa River Basin in northwestern Colorado. Wind Chills could get as low as -40. Northeastern Colorado will also be very cold with a Wind Chill Advisory for -18 to -24 degrees.

Friday, full sunshine returns with recovering temperatures. The Front Range should head back into the 20s, with the 30s on Saturday, and close to 50 on Sunday.
