Smokes Clears Some Thanks To Cold Front

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) - What a cool off! Our cold front last night dropped our temperatures by 20-30 degrees, some areas didn't get into the 70s across the Front Range today. It was our coolest day since August 7 when we stopped at 68°.

The haze and smoke from the wildfires burning to the north and west did improve a bit today, especially in the lower areas. Air quality has improved a bit as well. Compared to Monday when the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment declared the air "unhealthy for everyone", Tuesday it's being classified as "unhealthy for sensitive groups".  Meaning very young children, older adults, and those with respiratory problems may experience health effects.

We'll be warming up again quickly. Wednesday we're still fairly mild in the low 80s, but we'll be close to 90 again by Thursday. Overall we are pretty dry this week, with the exception of Friday when we could see isolated storms.
