New Storm To Bring Rain & Snow Back To Colorado

DENVER (CBS4) - The weekend will end with a change brewing in the extended forecast.

Expect another mild and windy day with cloud cover on the increase Sunday afternoon. In fact, we think we'll see some scattered rain and snow showers by sunset as a new storm system approaches from the west.

Some forecast models indicate the chance for some steady rain late Sunday and early Monday near the Wyoming and Colorado state line.

Monday will be cloudy and much cooler with snow in the mountains and rain developing on the eastern plains by the afternoon. That rain should change over to a sloppy, wet snow sometime after sunset Monday evening.

With regard to the Front Range urban corridor it looks like most of the snow will fall along and south of Interstate 70.

Totals looks to be on the light side with just a few inches at best, both in the Denver metro and in the mountains. However, there could be a higher pocket in the southern Front Range foothills and across parts of southern Colorado.

A lot can change with this forecast depending on the final track of the approaching low pressure, which actually actually split into two pieces, with some energy going north of us and the rest south.

The week ahead will be cool and unsettled with another chance for some showers by Wednesday night.
