Much Warmer & Drier For The Holiday Weekend
DENVER (CBS4) - A few thunderstorms popped around the Denver area on Wednesday afternoon. They brought quick heavy rain, and small hail with them.
Temperatures remained in the low 80s for much of the Front Range with overall sunny skies through most of the day.
Thursday brings much warmer temperatures and a lot of sunshine to Colorado. Highs will climb to the mid to upper 80s with mostly sunny skies across the state. There could be a few isolated storms on the far eastern plains near Cheyenne Wells and Burlington.
Hot and dry conditions stick around with us through the Memorial Holiday weekend.
Saturday we could climb to the low 90s. The record on Saturday (May 26) is 95° set back in 1942 which is also the warmest temperature ever recorded in May in Denver. We'll have to wait and see how close we get to the record. It seems unlikely the record is at risk but we should be close. In fact, this will be among the warmest Memorial Day weekends in Denver's history.
Memorial Day Monday is looking a touch cooler with highs in the lower 80s and a slight chance for evening thunderstorms.
