Snow Clears Leaving Behind Bitter Overnight Lows

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -  The first measurable snow of the year for Denver today! It was actually our first measurable snow in Denver since our late April snow storm last year. Denver officially saw 2.5 inches of snow at Denver International Airport.

The snow slowly started clearing in the afternoon, leaving behind clouds and cold. Tonight as those clouds start to clear as well, we are in for a bitterly cold night. In fact, it will be the first hard freeze of the year for the Denver area.

We will have a Freeze Warning through 10:00 am on Tuesday, with temperatures dropping into the mid 20s tonight for most of the Front Range. Parts of the eastern plains will be under a Hard Freeze Warning through Tuesday morning as well. Watch for icy conditions Tuesday morning thanks to those cold temperatures.

A warming trend will start Tuesday afternoon and will culminate Thursday will highs back in the 70s, the thought of snow will be a long memory at that point.
