After Storms Pass, Cooler Temperatures Head Our Way

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -

A big western weather maker is sitting over Nevada, making it's quick trek to the north. As it passes to our north, storms are firing up in Colorado bring heavy rain to the Western Slope. We've also seen a lot of lightning from these storms. Temperatures were still hot today, we hit 90 degrees in Denver. The mercury dropped quite a bit on the Western Slope with those storms passing through, they finally got a break from their heat.

Some of the storms in southeastern Colorado could turn severe.

It will be cool enough over Colorado's highest peaks that a dusting of snow will be possible both tonight and Friday night.

A cold front sweeps through on Friday, and will knock our temperatures down to the lower 80s. Behind that front this weekend, temperatures will drop down into the 70s! We are looking at fairly dry conditions all weekend. There could be an isolated storm or two in eastern Colorado, but that's about it.
