Continued Very Warm With An Ozone Alert Today

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -

The heat continues in Denver this week with another day in the 90s. We hit 95 downtown and 93 officially at DIA. Temperatures will stay well above average all week with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.

The warm, dry and quiet weather is contributing to an Ozone Action Day along the Front Range. You're encouraged to reduce your driving where possible and to stop at the click while refueling your vehicle to help lower pollutants in the atmosphere, which cook in the daytime heat and form ozone gas near the surface.

A few isolated storms are possible through the evening, they should avoid the Denver area but we will see a few more clouds through the evening.

Thursday brings the best chance for storms and rain this week, especially to the high country. We have a Broncos preseason game at Mile High against the Cardinals that night, there is a chance for a storm during the first half of the game.

It also looks warm and dry for the Rocky Mountain Showdown Friday evening.

Labor Day weekend looks warm and overall very sunny.
