Warm Up Sunday, Cold Blast Monday
DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado is caught between a big, ridge of high pressure on the west coast and a deep, low pressure trough over the Great Lakes and Midwest. This set up socked in the eastern half of the state with cloud cover early on Saturday. By afternoon, drier air managed to work its way in and clear out the skies by the end of the day. That managed to warm the highs in Denver and by 4pm , DIA warmed to 58 degrees and Downtown popped to 60 on Saturday.
Sunday will be mostly clear and have a northwesterly breeze kicking up most of the day. With the added sunshine temperatures will be warming into the 60s and 70s over the eastern plains with 50s and 60s in the mountains and west.
The next wave of cold air will be blasting into the state late on Sunday. This cold front will roll in with a a little freezing drizzle and light snow for Monday morning. This may be an issue for the Monday morning commute.
On Halloween there may be a few flurries in the morning but, the snow should be done for trick or treat time.
The Front Range will quickly recover from the cold shot by mid-week and a little warming trend will get going.
