Fire Danger High Ahead Of Cold Front

DENVER (CBS4) - Tuesday was another hot day in Denver as we hit 97 degrees officially at the airport and 96 degrees downtown. As promised, just isolated storms on Tuesday with a quick thunderstorm bringing some brief rain to Denver; a few out east reached severe levels, but they didn't seem to last long.
Fire danger is extremely high in parts of Colorado. The entire Western Slope and portions of the mountains are under a Red Flag Warning through this evening, and again tomorrow from Noon to 8pm. A weak cold front will bring some relief as it passes over the plains by midnight. That will bring Denver's high down to the upper 80s - still fairly warm - with isolated storms, on Wednesday.

As we work through the week, count on partly cloudy skies with scattered storms on Thursday with a cooler high - only around 80. More of the same Friday with a high in the lower 80s.

Looking ahead to the weekend: Mostly sunny and seasonal on Saturday with a high in the mid 80s; partly cloudy Sunday and staying warm as we reach into the upper 80s.
