Less Sizzle Sunday With More Storms
DENVER (CBS4) - Afternoon showers and thunderstorms were a welcome relief on Saturday across eastern Colorado. Highs zoomed into the upper 90s and low 100s for many eastern towns of the state. DIA managed to make it to 99 degrees for Denver's official temperature. Three degrees away from the record high of 102.
A cold front will move through eastern Colorado overnight Saturday into Sunday. This will bring down the heat for at least one day on Sunday. There is still plenty of moisture however, pumping in from the south and south-west for afternoon thunderstorms to get going. Some of the late day storms on Sunday may reach severe levels. With high winds and hail being the main threat for a large chunk of the eastern plains.
The heat will return big time in the week ahead. Starting with low 90s in Denver on Monday working up close to 100 by mid-week with only small chances for cooling afternoon rains.
