Larimer County Deputy Arrested On Domestic Violence Charges
LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) - Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith expressed disappointment after one of his deputies was arrested on domestic violence charges Wednesday morning.
According to David Moore with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the area of Jefferson Drive and East 41st Street at approximately 10 a.m. The investigation revealed Deputy Jacob Ediger, 37, was involved in an alleged domestic violence incident.
No details of the incident were released but Ediger now faces charges of third-degree assault, child abuse-endangerment and domestic violence enhancement.
Ediger is a four-year deputy with the sheriff's office assigned to the patrol division.
"The incident was not work related and did not involve any type of weapons. He was taken into custody and booked into jail," Moore said in a statement.
Ediger has been placed on paid administrative leave and a separate internal investigation is underway.
The victim, whose name hasn't been released, didn't require any medical treatment.
"Sheriff Smith expressed disappointment in the situation, but reassures the public that employees of the sheriff's office will be held to the highest of standards and will be held accountable for any alleged violations of the law," Moore said.
