Lakewood Police Officer Struck In Leg By Ricochet Bullet

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A police officer in Lakewood was struck in the leg by a ricochet bullet at a shooting range near Morrison on Tuesday morning.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was investigating the incident.

The officer was at Rooney Valley Law Enforcement Training Facility in Jefferson County undergoing her routine shooting qualifications for the police department when she was struck.

She was shooting on the pistol range when a bullet from someone firing on the rifle range struck her. Lakewood Police Department spokesman Steve Davis told CBS4 the officer is a veteran police officer with the force.

It is unclear the extent of the officer's injuries but Jeffco Sheriff spokesman Mark Techmeyer said they are non-life threatening.
