La Plata County Woman Treated For Bubonic Plague

LA PLATA COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Health officials are investigating how a La Plata County woman got bubonic plague.

The woman, whose name hasn't been released, was treated with antibiotics and has been released from the hospital.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that it's the first case of bubonic plague in La Plata County since 2006, but it is the fifth case of the plague in Colorado this year.

The other cases were all in Adams County.
