King Soopers Shooting: Family Of Teri Leiker Remembers Her Passions
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The family of Teri Leiker shared some of their special memories days after she was killed in the King Soopers shooting in Boulder. Leiker was an employee at the grocery store.
Her mother says she loved the job, and worked there for three decades.
"She just loved going to work. She loved the people. She loved everything about it," said Leiker's mother, Margie.
After 30 years of service, employees earn a ring from the store. Leiker's mother says the company is honoring her daughter's legacy.
"This ring is a 30 year (ring). Everybody gets it. So, the guy in HR from Cincinnati said from now on, this ring that we give them on their 30th year is going to be called the 'Teri Leiker 30th Anniversary ring.' So how special is that? Forever? It's just unbelievable," said Margie.
CBS News reports Leiker was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending University of Colorado Boulder games.
"She'd go to the stampede, and she would talk to band leaders and cheerleaders. She wasn't shy at all," said Margie.
Leiker also worked with her boyfriend, Clint Ponsford. Both have autism. They met at the store 30 years ago.
Ponsford wanted to rush into the store as the shooting was happening to look for Leiker. He told CBS News he will miss "being with her. Doing this with her. Togetherness."
