Kayaker Is Latest Victim Swept Away By Colorado Waterways

BASALT, Colo. (CBS4) - A kayaker from Grand Junction is the latest victim to die in Colorado waterways. This was the fourth incident over the weekend in which a kayaker or tuber was swept away.

On Sunday at about 2:15 p.m., two kayakers went into the water at Seven Castles, just five miles from the Frying Pan River.

After losing contact with each other, one stopped to make a 911 call at a home along the river. The other was spotted floating unconscious downriver, at the Pueblo Bridge in Basalt.

Bystanders called 911, and several jumped in to attempt CPR, which was continued by rescue crews but proved unsuccessful.
