K-9 That Succumbed To Cancer Honored By Jefferson County Sheriff's Office

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - A K-9 officer was honored on Wednesday for his service with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Flash died last week after battling cancer. For the past 9 years he had worked with deputies to solve crimes.

Emotional officers remembered their K-9 friend at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

"Flash's reputation preceded him. He was known for always working, and he was known for that because often times when he would come into an office he wouldn't go to people; he would just sniff -- and I'm not going to tell you exactly what he was sniffing for -- but he was always sniffing," an officer said.

Flash conducted nearly 7,000 explosive searches. He also provided security protection for the president and foreign diplomats.
