Jury Selection Begins For Rocky Ford Police Officer Charged With Murder

LA JUNTA, Colo. (CBS4)- Jury selection is underway in the trial of a former Rocky Ford police officer charged with murder.

Investigators say James Ashby followed Jack Jacquez, 27, into his home and then shot him.

The deadly shooting happened in La Junta in Oct. 2014.

Ashby has said he believed Jacquez was a burglar but detectives say Ashby had no reason to believe a crime was being committed.

Opening statements are scheduled for Thursday.
