Judge Orders Teacher Accused Of Sex Assault To Stay Away From Student

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - A Broomfield teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student appeared before a judge Friday morning. He was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and the school where the assaults allegedly happened.

Christian Armstrong faces charges of sexual assault on a child after he allegedly engaged in sexual relations with a student for nearly a year, starting when she was 13.

Armstrong, 45, teaches history and geography teacher at Westlake Middle School and was placed on leave by Adams 12 Five Star Schools administrators in March when the investigation started.

The assaults allegedly happened at the school from August 2012 through May 2013. Court documents state the incidents happened as much as five times a week at various locations inside the school.

Police said explicit emails between Armstrong and the student were found on the girl's computer.

The Broomfield judge on Friday ordered Armstrong to stay away from the victim and away from the middle school.

Armstrong is wearing a GPS monitor but remains free on bond.
