Judge Allows Murder Victim's Family To Appear In Court But With A Warning

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- The judge in a murder case has allowed that the family of the victim can appear in court during the proceedings-- but gave them a warning.

Christopher Waide, 23, is charged with first-degree murder even though the body of Lea Porter has never been found.

During a hearing in Adams County Court on Tuesday, the defense attorney filed a motion to exclude Porter's family from court because they have a history of making offensive comments and even threats.

The judge ruled the victim's family has a right to be present but warned they need to behave.

Porter was visiting Waide at his apartment in Westminster when she disappeared in June 2014. Her family says she rejected his romantic advances.

Waide originally denied any involvement in Porter's death but apparently admitted to killing her a short time later.
