Jose Reyes' Legal Problems Open The Door For Top Prospect Trevor Story

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (CBS4) - With four-time All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes placed on paid leave under Major League Baseball's new domestic violence policy, the door has been opened for 2011 Colorado Rockies first-round draft choice Trevor Story.

"I feel like I can compete for sure at the highest level," Story said. "So whether or not it happens when I want it to or whenever it's going to happen, it's going to happen. I'm not trying to put a timetable on it. I'm just really excited about the opportunity."

"It was a whirlwind of emotions … I remember I was lying in bed, one of my friends texted me and he screen-shotted that he had been traded and my heart started racing," Story said. "A lot of excitement … it was sad to see him go because he was kind of a mentor to me."

The Rockies season opener is April 4 against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
