John Suthers Being Sworn In As Mayor Of Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - John Suthers is taking over as the new leader of Colorado Springs.

The former state attorney general is set to be sworn in as mayor at 10 a.m. Tuesday outside the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.

Suthers beat former Colorado Springs Mayor Mary Lou Makepeace in a runoff election last month, winning about 68 percent of the vote.

He also previously served two terms as district attorney in Colorado Springs and led the Colorado Department of Corrections.

He replaces Mayor Steve Bach, who didn't seek re-election after serving one four-year term.
