John Elway On Brian Hoyer: 'He's A Possibility'

DENVER (CBS4) - John Elway said Brian Hoyer had a "good visit" to Broncos headquarters this week.

"He's a guy that's definitely a possibility for us," the Denver Broncos general manager said Thursday of the free agent quarterback who played for the Houston Texans last year.

Hoyer was released by Houston on Monday, becoming expendable when the Texans signed Brock Osweiler and Brandon Weeden this offseason.

The 30-year-old Hoyer is also visiting with other NFL teams this week. ESPN reported he met with the New York Jets.

Elway said he's hoping to get another quarterback on the roster to compete with Mark Sanchez.

"We're happy with Mark. I think that Mark was a starting point for us and now we want to find someone to come in and compete with him. I know Mark's excited about being here, we're excited about having him," Elway said. "He was a high draft pick seven years ago."

The Broncos also have quarterback Trevor Siemian on their roster.

"Obviously you're going to go through growing pains with Peyton (Manning) not being here," Elway said.
