Jefferson County Schools Begins Search For New Superintendent
GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - The Jefferson County School District is beginning the search for a new superintendent.
That's after the school board voted Thursday night not to extend the contract for Dan McMinimee, who was hired by the previous board.
Voters recalled three conservative board members in 2015 and at that time McMinimee told CBS4 he had no plans to leave. The board says they are now looking for someone with more experience.
McMinimee's contract expires in six months. He told CBS4 the board has every right to make this decision but until this week he wasn't aware that there were problems with his performance.
"We had conversations but in terms of a formal performance evaluation that's never happened, so again, what I said was I felt like things were going in the right direction and I still think things are going in the right direction in our buildings in Jefferson County. It's their decision and I respect that," McMinimee said.
The board denied accusations that this decision was being done with the intention to get back at previous board members who hired McMinimee. Some said that hire was predetermined and took place behind closed doors.
McMinimee said he plans to seek out another job as a school administrator.
