Jeffco Schools Breaks Ground On New K-8 School In Arvada

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - The Jefferson County School District broke ground on a brand new K-8 school in Arvada on Thursday. It's the district's first new construction in a decade.

The $25 million project will serve students in Arvada's Candelas neighborhood.

"This area is really developing very quickly and we're making plans to make sure we accommodate students that move into the area," Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Dan McMinimee said.

Jefferson County is Colorado's second biggest school district.

The new school will be ready for new students in fall of 2017.
