Mesa County Jail Inmate Who Died In Fall Identified

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A Mesa County Jail inmate has died after jumping from the second story of the jail and striking his head in the fall.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office identified him as 50-year-old Carl McDaniel. He was recently convicted of sexual assault on a child and was awaiting sentencing.

The Mesa County Coroner's Office is investigating.
