Jahvell Forrest Formally Charged In Aurora Cop's Shooting

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The man accused of shooting an Aurora police officer was formally charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder on Monday.

Jahvell Forrest, 20, shot Ryan Burns in the leg during a traffic stop on Nov. 14. Police say Forrest fired from a car he'd stolen minutes earlier. Prosecutors say he fled the scene and abandoned the car two blocks from the shooting.

Police set up a wide perimeter in the hunt for the suspect but didn't make an arrest until last week.

Forrest also faces two counts of attempted murder of a peace officer and car theft, among other charges. He's being held on $1 million bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 8.
