Dozens of semi trucks involved in slideouts north of Colorado Springs

I-25 shuts down due to semi slideouts in Colorado's Douglas County

Both directions of Interstate 25 were closed Tuesday night after a series of semi truck slideouts in dangerous driving conditions late Tuesday. Several of the semis were jackknifed. It happened north of Colorado Springs and south of Larkspur in the southern part of Douglas County. I-25 remained shut down just before midnight from Castle Rock to Monument but reopened Wednesday morning.

As many as 20 large vehicles were getting stuck and sliding on the road as rain and snow showers in the Palmer Divide area were causing windshields to ice up on Tuesday night, and there was low visibility.

Douglas County was on accident alert due to the road conditions.

Dangerous driving conditions, and a blizzard warning, also led to a full overnight closure of Interstate 70 on Colorado's Eastern Plains.
