Jackknifed Semi Causes Traffic Delay On I-70 At Ward Road

DENVER (CBS4) - A jackknifed semi-truck blocked two of three lanes Monday morning on Interstate 70 at Ward Road.

It happened at about 5:30 a.m., and resulted in traffic backups for miles. The eastbound direction of I-70 was down to one lane of traffic along the left side.

The truck hit the guard rail and fuel was spilled, requiring powder be spread on the road to soak it up.

It appears there was a fire involved with the semi truck's engine, which added to the difficulty in removing the debris. There were no injuries.

The driver of the semi will be charged with careless driving.

The road was cleared by 8:12 a.m. and reopened to traffic.
