It's A Record White Christmas For Fort Collins
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – Five inches of snow fell Thursday in Fort Collins, which set a record for snowfall on Christmas Day.
The city got 2 more inches overnight, and CBS4's Lauren DiSpirito found that most people didn't mind the snow at all. Almost everybody said it's hard to remember a time with that much snowfall at Christmas.
With the holiday over it was back to work for crews tasked with clearing Fort Collin's snowy sidewalks along Prospect Road.
"It's just been thick and heavy, they (snow blowers) bog down once you hit heavier patches," Curtis Fendel of Loveland said.
Just around the block children used time off to enjoy 8 inches of fresh powder.
"I think it's really good; we haven't had a lot of snow in a long time, it's very fun to sled on," a boy said.
"It's nice, the jumps, really good, and having a white Christmas is nice," another said.
Parents and pets seemed to have just as much fun.
"Oh, absolutely; brings back childhood memories," a father said.
Others took time to take in the beauty of a fresh snowfall while cross country skiing.
"There's no base; nice powder, but you kind of punch through and it's going to get worn out pretty quick," Mitch Green of Fort Collins said.
