Investigators Say Deputy Justified In Shooting Man Holding Relatives At Gunpoint

ELDORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators have determined a deadly deputy-involved shooting in Boulder County was justified.

On April 22, deputies with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office rushed to the Doudy Draw Trailhead located at 4100 Eldorado Springs Drive in Boulder County.

When they arrived, they found Lue Vang holding a gun to the head of William Lor, 65, Vang's father-in-law. Also in the car was Vang Lor, 24, Vang's brother-in-law.

Despite repeated attempts to talk to Vang, 39, deputies said he continued to threaten William Lor's life. That's when Deputy Brunkow shot and killed Vang.

The team that investigated the shooting says Brunkow's actions were not only justified, but saved the lives of the hostages.
