Investigation Ongoing After Kidnapping Arrest

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police are investigating whether a vehicle used in a kidnapping on Wednesday is linked to other crimes.

The white Subaru was driven by Sergio Martinez, who police say took an Aurora woman and her 2-year-old son at gunpoint Wednesday morning.

Martinez, 21, wound up driving the two people to Boulder. Around that time the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert in the case.

At approximately 1:45 p.m. police located the car Martinez was driving. They began monitoring it in a neighborhood near Highway 36 and Baseline Road.

They eventually stopped the car in the parking area next to a former fast food restaurant and a fugitive response team ran after and captured Martinez.

"Next thing you know, coming right through here was the suspect, I guess, running from the police with about 15 cops behind him with guns drawn and everything," said Mike Nichols.

The mother and child were unharmed, according to police.

So far it's not clear what charges Martinez may be facing.

CBS4 found that Martinez has an extensive rap sheet that includes offenses in Fort Collins, Fort Morgan and Denver.
