Inmate Found Dead In Booking Cell At Arapahoe County Jail

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — An investigation is underway after an inmate was found dead in a booking cell at the Arapahoe County jail.

The sheriff's office says 28-year-old James Proctor was found unresponsive during an inmate count early Thursday morning and was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later. Littleton police had arrested him on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a DUI case, and he was brought to the jail Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies say he was alive when they checked on him about 3 ½ hours before he was found unresponsive.

Proctor was in the cell with another inmate, but investigators say there is no indication of foul play.
