I-70 reopens between eastern edge of Denver metro area and Colorado-Kansas state line

Blizzard conditions in Eastern Colorado for Wednesday morning with cooler conditions this afternoon

Both directions of Interstate 70 reopened late Wednesday afternoon between the eastern edge of the Denver metro area and a town close to the Colorado-Kansas state line. The closure started on Tuesday night and it was due to adverse weather conditions.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for extreme high winds and snow for a section of eastern Colorado that included the I-70 corridor on the plains. That warning expired at 9 a.m. but there were still strong winds throughout the day. Gusts as high as 70 mph were recorded.

Snow totals from the snowstorm ranged from 2 to 5 inches on the Eastern Plains.
