I-25 Widening Project In Douglas County Expected To Be Completed Several Months Early

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The Colorado Department of Transportation has announced more nighttime closures of Interstate 25 lanes and ramps in Douglas County as Phase 2 of the widening project is scheduled to be completed at the end of April.

CDOT is adding one lane in each direction between County Line Road and Lincoln Avenue. Phase 2 widens the east side of I-25.

"Paving operations require full closure of the eastbound Lincoln Avenue on-ramp," CDOT said in a statement.

This weekend, beginning Friday at 9 a.m., the eastbound Lincoln Avenue loop on-ramp to northbound I-25 will be closed until Monday at 5:30 a.m. The ramp will also be closed overnight on Wednesday from 10 p.m. to Thursday at 5 a.m.

"Together, the overnight and weekend closures save weeks of inconvenience and traffic impacts associated with partial ramp closures and phased paving operations," CDOT said.

The $32 million project wasn't expected to be finished until 2016.

"CDOT now anticipates that the entire I-25 project will be substantially complete by the end of 2015 – several months early."
