Hydration Is Key For Colorado Runners

DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado's arid climate means that runners have to pay particular attention to hydration.

"It's often neglected," said two-time Olympian Alan Culpepper.

Culpepper advises runners to think about hydration before, during and after a run. He recommends 20 to 24 oz. before you run, and another 32 oz. after you run. He also suggests making sports drinks a part of the mix.

"It's common to come off a training block in a state of cumulative dehydration, so add in some extra electrolytes the last few weeks," Culpepper said.

The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 is Sunday, Oct. 19, at 7:15 a.m. at Civic Center Park.
