Hurricane-Force Winds Hit The Front Range

GEORGETOWN, Colo. (CBS4)- Hurricane-force winds whipped through the Front Range early Wednesday, toppling semis and causing some damage.

One semi was traveling along Interstate 70 near Georgetown when it tipped over.

Another tanker flipped on Highway 72.

The hurricane-force winds were caused by a powerful jet stream crossing over the northern Rockies. Because Colorado's mountains are so tall they're much closer to the fastest winds in the atmosphere and therefore see some of the highest gusts.
