Hundreds Take Advantage Of Jeffco Safety Fair

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Hundreds of people came out for this year's Jefferson County Safety Fair.

It was the sixth year for the fair. It was an opportunity for residents to get a wide variety of health and safety information.

Jefferson County District Attorney Peter Weir said the focus this year was on identity theft for seniors and online child predators.

"Prevention is a huge part of our job and this is one of our most effective ways to get the message out to our community and enhance public safety." Weir said.

"I think it's wonderful. I've picked up some really good tips," said Carol Mackell, who attended the fair on Saturday. "We hear they target senior citizens in particular. I'll be taking all this home for my husband to learn."

The fair also included fire extinguisher demonstrations, a recycling center and booths offering fraud protection and information about identity theft.
