Human Skull Found At Construction Site In Vail

DENVER (AP) — Eagle County officials have halted work at a Vail construction site after the excavation unearthed a human skull.

County officials said in a statement Thursday the skull was discovered at a construction debris site 20 miles away in Edwards. It was traced back to a construction project at a Vail hotel, where another bone was found.

Coroner Kara Bettis determined the remains are human. Work at the site has been stopped while the coroner's office and an anthropologist search for additional remains.

They will try to determine the age, gender and a cause of death.

Officials say the investigation may take several days.
