Huge Marijuana Farm In Basalt Faces Closure Because Of Odor

BASALT, Colo. (CBS4) - A marijuana farm in Pitkin County is trying to keep the odor of marijuana from bothering residents.

The marijuana business Silverpeak has a 25,000 square foot greenhouse in Basalt called High Valley Farm, southeast of Aspen. The county has a "no-smell" rule that's a condition of the company's license.

The Aspen Times reports the county is giving the farm until September to get rid of the smell or its license won't be renewed.

"We've demonstrated our ability to overcome many obstacles, but I don't want to gloss over the fact that there are issues here. We understand and are very sensitive to the community's concerns, and we're working diligently to resolve the issues that come out," Silverpeak owner Jordan Lewis told The Aspen Times.
