How Well Do You Know The Bowl Games?

By Mark Haas
DENVER (CBS4)- There are 40 college football bowl games this year… 40! Meaning 80 teams are playing in the post-season, some with losing records.

Bowl games seem to come and go, and even the long-running staples like the Rose Bowl have a long sponsor name now attached (Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual).

The Fiesta Bowl is another of the top bowl games and this year it has a new sponsor: BattleFrog.

BattleFrog, according to its website, "Is one of the nation's fastest growing outdoor fitness events." Each BattleFrog race is 8km, with at least 25 obstacles. What this has to do with college football, I have no idea.

A lot of the other sponsors are regional. Outside of southern California, I'm pretty sure the San Diego County Credit Union isn't getting much from its sponsorship of the Poinsettia Bowl.

So today we decided to have some fun, and see how much people knew about some of the sponsors.

Gildan? A bank? Nope, it's a clothing retailer.
Royal Purple? Alcohol, a casino? Nope, motor oil.
Marmot? I thought it was a small furry rodent, but it is actually an outdoors clothing company.
And the guesses on BattleFrog? Everything from lotion to a bait shop, but we did find one person who actually knew!
