Wheat Ridge Police Investigate Shooting Near Interstate 70 & Garrison

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - A homeowner was shot near Interstate 70 and Garrison Street early Monday morning. Wheat Ridge police responded to the shooting in the 9200 block of West 49th Avenue.

Investigators initially said the shooting was an attempted break-in, but now say the events leading up to the shooting are unclear due to conflicting statements from witnesses.

Investigators do not have a suspect description. They say some witnesses are being uncooperative with the investigation.

Police said the resident was taken to the hospital but did not provide any information about the victim's condition.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated the shooting happened near I-70 and Lowell Boulevard. Police later corrected information they initially provided.
