Homeowner Grateful For Firefighters Who Saved House From Flames

NEDERLAND, Colo. (CBS4) - A house photographed within reach of the Cold Springs Fire has survived the flames thanks to firefighters.

A picture from YouReporter Joe McManus shows just how close the fire came to destroying the home in Nederland. Another, later photo from McManus shows a slurry bomber dropping flame retardant on the nearby treeline.

The owners said they could only watch as the flames got closer.

"We just feel like it was luck of the draw. At the moment our house is still there and we were watching what was going on but we knew at the same time other people were not so fortunate," said John Bonvouloir.

The family said they plan on finding out which firefighters protected their home so they can thank them personally.
