Homeowner & Dog Escape House Fire In Evergreen

EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4) - The owner of a home was able to escape with his dog after it went up in flames Thursday morning.

Firefighters received the call just before midnight of flames that were visible from a mile and a half away.

Four departments and 40 firefighters responded to the scene and quickly put out the fire. Water had to be brought in as there were no hydrants in the area.

Ice was the main threat to firefighters after dousing the home in water.

The homeowner and dog escaped uninjured, but the home has significant damage to the second and third floors.

There is no explanation for a cause, though it does not appear suspicious.
