Hiker's Body Found Below Summit Of Mount Harvard

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The body of a hiker from Vermont was recovered below the summit of Mount Harvard early Thursday morning.

About 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office received notification of a missing hiker on Mount Harvard. The hiker, Eric A. Poehlman, 46 of Richmond, Vermont, was dropped off at the trailhead about 7 a.m. and supposed to be picked up at 3 p.m. at the same location.

When he did not return by 5 p.m. Wednesday, his family notified authorities.

Search and rescue crews from Chaffee County found Richmond's body at the 14,200 foot level just below the summit of Mount Harvard about 3:15 a.m. Thursday.

His body was removed from the mountain. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death. Foul play is not suspected.
