Hiker Rescued In Rocky Mountain National Park

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) - A 21-year-old hiker is recovering after spending a night stranded in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Rescuers reached the unidentified man Sunday evening. A helicopter couldn't fly at that time so the man and rescuers hiked out about five miles together, reaching the trailhead just before 10 p.m.

Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson says the man was injured in a fall near Sky Pond and ended up in a spot where he couldn't move up or down. He notified searchers by activating a personal locator beacon on Saturday night.

It's not clear how he's doing. He didn't require an ambulance but a relative drove him to seek medical care.
