Highway 74 West Of Denver Reopens After Rock Slide

MORRISON, Colo. (AP/CBS4) — A highway in the foothills west of Denver has reopened after a rock slide between Morrison and Kittridge forced its closure.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said crews completed mitigation work after boulders the size of small cars tumbled onto Colorado 74 on Sunday.

The road reopened around 1 p.m. Monday.

Mitigation work often includes prying loose boulders from cliffs that could eventually fall on their own.

No cars were hit and no injuries were reported in Sunday's slide, which occurred at about 11 a.m.

Geologists and engineers were called in to assess the damage.
