LARKSPUR, Colo. (CBS4) - Winds are a major concern along the Front Range Monday, including for firefighters in south Douglas County.

The winds pulled down power lines, which started a small fire here near Larkspur. The fire department wasn't taking any chances and quickly responded to get the fire out before winds could whip the flames.

There is also a dust advisory for most of the Eastern Plains. Winds have reached more than 55 miles per hour in some areas of the plains.

"If significant blowing dust is present and reducing visibility to less than 10 miles across a wide area, people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children in the affected area should reduce prolonged or heavy indoor and outdoor exertion," the state health department said in a statement.

There is also a high wind warning until 7 p.m. for most of the counties in the northern Eastern Plains.
